Ten Things I’m Thankful For

year-2-tttTop Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature created by the folks at the Broke and the Bookish. Each week has a different theme where participants try to come up with ten things to fit the theme.

This week is Thanksgiving freebie – tell us what you are thankful for. I decided to share ten things I’m thankful for. I don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, since I’m not from the USA but I think it’s the thought that counts, right?

Family

I’m super thankful for my family. I wouldn’t be here if not for some of them. Like literally. Everyone needs a mom and dad, right? Except clones. Or an AI. And I’m not a clone or an AI. Probably.

Friends

I’m super thankful for all my friends too. Half of which I wish I had spent more time with more than half the time and half of which I wish I had known more than half as well as they deserved.

Followers

I’m super thankful for all of my followers too. Granted some probably never read a single post after following and others have gone MIA, but those of you who stick around, doesn’t matter whether you comment or like or just lurk around. I’m super grateful for you.

A Good Life

I’m super thankful for my life. I have no major complains about my life. Sure there’s a bump in the road here and there and parts of me are defective, but hey, I’m still alive and happy. And that’s awesome. I have enough to eat, enough to drink. I have a roof over my head. I have some savings too, despite not having actually worked yet. Thank God for a brief stint at a fast food restaurant and monthly stipends from research grants.

Further Studies

Speaking of research grants, I’m super thankful that I got the chance to further my studies. The result came out recently and isn’t entirely positive, but it’s not an outright failure either, so it was definitely worth the three years sunk down this endeavor. But even if I failed, I would have been glad that I had the opportunity to do it. It was a great learning experience. That said, I won’t repeat it. It’s stressful as heck.

Good Books to Read

I’m super thankful for all the awesome books I get to read every year. There’s just no shortage of them.

Great Authors that Write

I’m also super thankful for all the great authors that produce those great books. An extra dose of gratefulness for those that churn out books yearly! Some even publish two or three books per year. I’m super grateful that I’m a fan of their work too.

High Speed Internet

I’m super thankful for my new and shiny high speed Internet. Everything is just so fast now. I wonder if that’s actually a bad thing, since I find myself streaming videos a whole lot more now that there’s no buffering needed.

My PC

I built my PC with the help of a friend about two years ago, which felt like an awesome achievement back then. It’s still working pretty well, but the hardware is starting to show its age. Especially the graphics card, which is a GTX 760. I’m not in a hurry to replace it, because next year I’ll start working and who knows if I’ll have the time to play games like I do now. Besides, most games I play nowadays don’t really have high graphical demands, i.e. Civilization VI and Europa Universalis 4.

Great Games to Play

I’m thankful for all the great games that come out each year that I can play. In fact, there’s too much of it that I’m starting to have a huge TBP to rival my TBR. Now if only I had more time…

That’s all folks. 10 things I’m thankful for.

If you’re from the USA, I would love to hear about your experiences regarding the holiday. Is there really turkey and pumpkin pie for dinner? Or is that something clichéd that’s made popular by movies and TV shows? What about the Thanksgiving Parade and football match? If you’re not from the USA, would you want to experience Thanksgiving? Let me know in the comments down below.

  1. Wonderful post :-)I like that you included high speed internet in the list.We don’t have Thanksgiving here but it does look like fun in the movies.I have never eaten turkey or sat at a table saying all things I’m thankful for 🙂

  2. I’m not american but I have a feeling I’d love Thanksgiving. I always feel happy when I can show my gratitude; I even have a small notebook in which I write, daily, things that made me feel grateful. Sometimes, they’re small things such as “the weather” or “having a great meal”, but it still counts! This also helps seeing life in a more optimistic way; even though things can get tough sometimes, we still have a lot to be thankful for! Like high speed internet! You’re definitely lucky to have one; mine can get very very very slow sometimes, hahah.

    • Oh, that’s a great thing to do! I think really does help see the good in life even in the worse of days! I should try it sometime, but I’m bad at doing things like that. It usually just slips my mind after a while. High speed internet is the best thing in the world! This was a recent upgrade, so I know about the struggle, haha. I hope you get one someday!
