Ten Books I Feel Differently About After Time Has Passed

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by the folks at the Broke and the Bookish. Each week has a different theme where participants try to come up with ten things to fit the theme.

This week’s topic is Ten Books I Feel Differently about after Time Has Passed.

I couldn’t, for the life of me, list ten books. So to make myself feel better, I did some extra work.

Who said there wasn’t romance in Wheel of Time?

Eye of the World (Wheel of Time #1)

I read Eye of the World in my late childhood/early teens. And never continued on to the next book in the series for a while. It wasn’t until I reread it and actually finished Eye of the World that it finally clicked. I blame my undeveloped brain for failing to comprehend the awesomeness that was the Wheel of Time.

Legend (Legend #1)

I didn’t like Legend at all when I finished it. I thought the plot was predictable and the two main characters using first person point of views was confusing. But now that I have some distance from it, I feel that I should give the sequels a chance.

 

Warbreaker

I had many false starts with Warbreaker. I never got far into it for the first few times I tried to read it. Though I think most of it had to do with reading the free MS Word version of the story. Once I caved and finally bought the book, it was a breeze to read it. Lightsong is awesome! Come on, a god that doesn’t believe in his own divinity?

Left Behind Series

I loved this series when I was younger. Bought all the books, except for one (I have some problems with this). Even read some of the sequel and prequel. But now that I’ve read more and actually dabbled with writing, I feel that it’s not as great as I thought it was.

 

Books for Life!

Inheritance Cycle

When I first read it, I thought Eragon was one of the best things ever. It had dragons, it had a kickass princess, it had betrayals, it had an evil empire and it had family secrets. But then I saw Star Wars, and read more fantasy novels. Yeah… it’s better than a lot of books out there, but I don’t think it quite qualifies as the best thing ever. That said, if and when the fifth book comes along, I’ll be devouring it.

 

Dan Brown’s books

The same case as the Left Behind series. The plots were pretty much a copy and paste of one another, until the newer books, and funnily enough, the newer ones aren’t as good as the first few. That said, I still enjoy the factual (or “factual”) portions of the novel, like the descriptions of statues and buildings and some of the historical components. I’ll also probably read the next Langdon book too, but not as urgently as I would before.

I’m sure there’s some in the back of my mind that I just can’t remember but 6 is all I’ve got right now. Though technically the last three are more than a few books. Maybe that just means I’m sure of my opinions :D. Though it’s more likely that I’m not as widely read and usually only dive into books I think I would enjoy. New resolution: Read books I don’t usually read!
